Collector watches.Cartier replica presents the new Santos Cartier replica watch at the SIHH
The SIHH,
Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie,
organized by the FHH,
Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie,
which has been held annually in Geneva for 28 years,
is the main focus of Haute Horlogerie.
It is not surprising,
then,
that the French firm has chosen this date to present the new Santos de cartier replica
In 1904,
Louis Cartier created one of the first wristwatches following the wish of his friend,
the famous Brazilian aviator Santos Dumont,
to be able to read the time in flight.
Cartier replica was popular with royalty and high-end collectors for its jewelry and Tank watches.
But it was not until the 80’s when they achieved a great media breakthrough,
being recognized among a more mainstream audience.
One possible reason why the brand was not so popular before is that Tank watches,
as well as other models such as the Santos,
Tortue or Tonneau,
were always made in gold or platinum,
so they were not available to everyone.
First version in steel and gold
The maison’s makeover in the late 1970s focused on making Cartier replica accessible to a wider audience,
while retaining its status as a luxury brand.
In 1978,
Dominique Perrin was assigned as Cartier’s Marketing Manager.
Perrin had the ingenious idea oflaunching a more affordable sports watch,
based on the legendary’Santos Dumont’.
This version of the watch was meant to appeal to a younger audience and accommodate more varied lifestyles.
The key was steel,
a material that Cartier had not previously worked with for his watches.
Apart from the black bakelite Santos from 1924,
this was one of the first,
or perhaps the first,
Cartier replica watch that was not made of a precious metal.

However,
so that the new watch would not lose its status as a luxury product,
Perrin and his team decided to launch the model in steel with gold details.
A risky combination,
since the mixture of steel and gold was not at all common at that time.
Cartier was one of the first,
if not the first company,
to introduce this new trend.
Since then,
the Santos became the best design a two-tone watch could have.
The gold screws on the bezel and on the watch bracelet were the right elements to highlight the combination of these two metals.
There haven’t been many watches since then,
even at Cartier replica,
that look as good in these two tones as the Santos.

Presentation of the new Santos Cartier from 1978
On October 20,
1978,
the creation of Dominique Perrin was launched.
It took place at the Musée de l’Air in Paris,
the best location for this event.
This is the place where you can still find aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont’s plane,
called Demoiselles.
The Santos became a huge success and would go on to become one of those iconic watches that you have to own.

Shortly after,
an all-steel model was launched which quietly and substantially increased the popularity of the Santos.
Fame,
however,
also has its negative side and it was not long before the first copies of the watch flooded Europe and the United States.
This new problem was almost impossible to overcome.
Even though Cartier released different versions such as a moon phase model,
an octagonal model,
and even a chronograph;the classic Santos was the most copied watch in the world for many years.
The Cartier Saints of Wall Street
The fame of the Cartier Santos also reached Hollywood through the wrist of actor Michael Douglas.
It would be through his interpretation of Gordon Gekko in the 1987 film,
Wall Street(Power and Greed in Spain).

In the same year,
the Santos was drastically revised,
renamed and relaunched as the Santos Galbée.
The case lost its boxy look and became more curved,
smoother,
and more wrist-fitting than the original Santos.
Santos Galbée limited edition 2002
Most of the models worked with a quartz calibration,
but there were exceptions,
such as a limited edition in 2002 with a gray dial,
a version that was supplied with caliber 2000.
2,000 pieces were made with the gray dial and 2,000 more with a blue dial.
Sure.
This is one of the most sought after models on second hand markets.

The Santos Galbée XL
The last change was the introduction of the Santos Galbée XL,
in 2005.
The larger size,32 x 45.5 mm,
was the result of the high demand for larger watches at the time.
The XL was an automatic watch,
with an ETA 049 caliber.
For the first time,
the cutout for the date window did not occupy the number 3 or number 6 and was ideally located between the numbers 4 and 5.
This was a great aesthetic improvement.
From a design point of view,
the XL is-or was-very well balanced and,
possibly,
the most beautiful Santos since its creation.

The Santos Galbée name has meanwhile become the common name for all Santos watches.
But in fact,
only the models made after 1987 are Galbée models.
Around 2016,
the brand’s followers panicked when the model disappeared from official Cartier fake watches websites.
It was the first time this had happened,
since it was introduced in 1978.
The watch was being sold in stores,
but was no longer produced.
A fact that not many understood,
as it is one of the most famous Cartier watches;a legend and an emblem of Cartier’s watchmaking efforts.
The new Santos Cartier of 2018
However,
this period of silence; It is what the Cartier team needed to take on the Santos and all its varieties.
A parenthesis to create an updated version,
suitable for the present and that can withstand the passage of time for many more decades.
