Thanks to 1970s motoring legends Steve McQueen and Jo Siffert, the Monaco model was associated with the Gulf brand from the start. The orange-blue stripe, typical of the Gulf logo, has already appeared several times on the dial of the Monaco special editions. This year, for the first time, Monaco is fitted with an in-house movement H02. It is, in my eyes, a meeting of two worlds: the vintage world, represented by the square case and dial with the Gulf logo, and the modern world, from which the Caliber H02 comes with contemporary parameters and an 80-hour power reserve. I have always leaned towards the vintage category – after all, the original Caliber 11 movement and the characteristic crown on the left side were for me a symbol of the Monaco range. But on second glance, it is understandable that having a watch with a fantastic modern movement and period Gulf elements on the dial is a big attraction. The color stripes are very decent this time, and the Gulf graphics have been successfully extended to the adder at position 3. This is again a special edition and we will offer it to those interested, perhaps already in May.
