Omega Replica Speedmaster ’57 Caliber 9906 [availability, price]

In its latest version, the Speedmaster ’57 has been quite thoroughly modified, including a new, manually wound caliber, which has significantly slimmed down the entire case.

Inspired by the original model from 1957, the Speedmater ’57 appeared in the fake Omega collection in 2013. Two years later it underwent the first facelift (see HERE), which resulted in a collection of watches available until now. The year 2022 and the new Omega collection also mean changes to the ’57 model – and not only cosmetic changes.

Although Omega Replica in the new edition of the watch has proposed a few stylistic changes, the most important is hidden inside the case. The automatic movement from the previous version was replaced by a manually wound caliber 9906. The Werk is METAS certified, anti-magnetic, 4 Hz silicon balance, 60 h power reserve and Co-Axial escapement. Decorated in a way typical of Omega (including Cotes de Arabesque), the movement is visible through the wide, sapphire caseback. The use of the new movement affected the entire watch. The case has significantly slimmed down, which will definitely affect the comfort of wearing the Speedmaster ’57 on the wrist.

The steel casing of the Speedmaster ’57 is 40.5mm in diameter and 12.99mm thick, which is less than the new Speedmaster Professional 3861. What’s more, it’s over 3mm less than the previous ’57 version. Designed in accordance with historical references, the case has straight ears, a logo-signed crown, pump-pusher buttons and a slightly slimmed steel bezel with an engraved tachymeter scale (and the so-called “dot-over-90”).

The most classic version is the version with a matte black sandwich dial and vintage beige applications. For those who prefer a bit more color and less historical consistency, Omega has prepared three additional dials (single-layer) in green, blue or burgundy. The first two are decorated with sunburst. The dial has a bi-compax system with a stopwatch on the hour. 3 and a small seconds at 9. The time is measured by the polished “broad arrow” hands, and the display is completed by the date window at 6.

When buying a new Speedmatser, you can choose between two options: either on a leather strap in the color of the dial or on a steel bracelet. Omega Replica opted for the “flat-link” variant with a new clasp, known from the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary “Ed White” model. On the strap, the watch will cost PLN 41,700. With the bracelet, the price increases to PLN 43,300.
